Kanyari Says He Will Not Force His Children to Stay With Him

Prophet Victor Kanyar

Prophet Victor Kanyari has publicly stated that he will not compel his children, Sky and Victor, to live with him, saying he will respect their freedom to choose where they feel most comfortable. The Salvation Healing Ministry presiding pastor made the remarks amid growing public discussion around the welfare and custody of the children following recent family developments.

Using his Facebook account on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Kanyari addressed his followers in a calm and reflective tone, explaining that his priority remains the well-being and happiness of his children. He clarified that while he remains actively involved in their lives, he will not impose decisions on them that should be theirs to make.

In the video shared online, Kanyari confirmed that he personally paid for the children’s flight tickets during their stay in the United Kingdom. He also described Sky and Danny as deeply cherished in his life, emphasising his commitment to supporting them regardless of where they choose to live.

“Ni mimi tu nililipa flight ticket na wakirudi ni wao tu wataamua kwenye watakaa. They have the freedom to choose where they wanna stay,” Kanyari wrote on Facebook.

Why Kanyari says his children should choose freely

Kanyari went on to explain that he has always aimed to be a present and supportive parent, even if that means making personal sacrifices. He noted that he would risk everything if necessary to ensure his children have access to opportunities and peace of mind. According to him, forcing them into decisions would go against his values as a parent.

While addressing concerns from members of the public, he reassured them that the children are currently in a safe and positive environment. He dismissed fears that they were in any form of distress and urged his audience not to worry.

“Lakini mahali wako, si mahali pambaya, semeni Amen. Na mama yao alifariki. Siwezi harakisha kuwatoa hapo, nimewaachilia warelax.“

He further revealed that he recently facilitated a vacation for the children, explaining that he wanted them to enjoy life and have new experiences. He admitted that although he has never personally visited the United Kingdom, he honoured their wishes after asking where they wanted to travel.

“On Monday, nimewalipia Ndege waende vacation. Mimi sijawahi Kanyanga UK, lakini nilipowauliza wanataka kwenda wapi, walisem UK. Hiyo ni elfu mia nne,” Kanyari said in the video he shared on Facebook.

His remarks were widely shared, with many supporters praising his decision to prioritise the children’s comfort over public pressure or personal preference.

How the Betty Bayo family debate adds context

Kanyari’s statement comes only weeks after a renewed public debate involving Joyce Mbugua, the mother of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo. Joyce stirred conversation online after calling for clarity surrounding her daughter’s death, insisting that further steps needed to be taken.

“A postmortem must be carried out on my daughter’s body so that we can have clarity on what exactly killed her,” she said.

In a separate interview with a TikToker, Joyce spoke positively about Kanyari and suggested that he should be the one taking care of the children. She acknowledged their relationship and described him as a responsible individual.

“Besides everything I have said about Tash, I want to say that Kanyari is a good man and we have a very good friendship. With these new developments, I spoke to him recently and asked him to prioritise seeking full custody of his children,” she said.

Joyce also raised concerns about property she claims belonged to her late daughter and called for its return. She made it clear that she was prepared to take legal action if necessary.

“As for Tash, I want him to return all the belongings he currently has that belonged to my daughter, and I will personally oversee that process.

“You can imagine that when I raised my concerns with him, he told me to take him to court if I wanted to. I think he assumed I didn’t have the power to speak or that I wouldn’t come forward. Now I have, and this is my official statement,” Joyce said then.

Kanyari’s latest comments position him as a father seeking balance between responsibility and respect for his children’s autonomy. As public attention remains fixed on the situation, his insistence on allowing Sky and Victor to make their own choices has added a new layer to an already complex family conversation.
