Kitale-born comedienne Dem wa Facebook has shared an emotional account of her experience at the Vulai Festival, describing it as a defining chapter in her creative journey. The comedian revealed that a warm and unexpected interaction with Kenyan musician Savara Mundigi left her deeply touched and reaffirmed her belief in the path she is on.

In a Facebook post shared on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Dem wa Facebook explained that her involvement in the historic festival almost did not happen. She admitted that when the invitation first came in, hesitation took over due to past experiences with politics surrounding home-ground events.

“Yesterday I saw God in action, and history was made. Let me now share the story. When I first received a call from Val of Madada Events to be part of the Vulai Festival, I was very hesitant because I knew that politics often get involved in local events,” she wrote.

After careful discussions with her management team and the festival organisers, she agreed to take on the role of hosting the event. However, her initial concerns quickly became reality. Soon after the official posters were released, criticism and political undertones emerged, threatening to overshadow the work being put in behind the scenes.

How Dem wa Facebook pushed through criticism to support Vulai Festival

Despite the backlash, Dem wa Facebook chose to stay focused and committed to the success of the festival. She explained that rather than limiting herself strictly to her contractual duties as a master of ceremonies, she took personal initiative to ensure the event reached as many people as possible across Western Kenya.

“However, after sitting down with my management and the three amazing ladies, we decided to go ahead. Once the poster was released, true to my fears, political attacks began almost immediately. But as you know, if there is one thing this young girl from Sikhendu never does, it is get discouraged. I personally travelled to all five counties in the Western region—Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and Trans Nzoia—to shoot promotional materials for this event,” the comedienne wrote.

Her efforts played a key role in building momentum ahead of the festival. When the event day finally arrived, thousands of revellers turned up, transforming the venue into a celebration that she described as unforgettable. She credited the success to teamwork, belief in the vision, and the determination of the organisers.

“For your information, I was only paid to emcee the event, but at some point, people thought I was being paid as an influencer. I knew it was not my event, but these three amazing young ladies had to succeed. I saw their dedication, determination and hard work. I believed in their vision, and yes, yesterday they made it happen. The Mulembe nation came to a standstill. Thousands of people converged in a “forest”, as they called it, just to have a good time,” she added.

Why Savara’s gesture became a turning point

A video later shared by Dem wa Facebook captured a powerful moment between her and Savara Mundigi during the festival. The clip shows the two sharing a brief conversation before Savara warmly hugged her and kissed her on the head. The interaction resonated deeply with her and became one of the most meaningful highlights of the event.

She described the moment as a blessing and a form of validation, noting that it strengthened her confidence and reminded her that her work is being noticed beyond her immediate community.

“A good time was had at the Vulai Festival, and as you all can see, when God plans something, no one can change it. Once again, people of INGO, thank you, very, very much. Do not let me handle this on my own, please. And know that Savara has already blessed me; now it’s time to cross borders,” she wrote.

For Dem wa Facebook, the Vulai Festival was more than just another event. It represented resilience, growth, and recognition. The experience, capped by Savara’s gesture, marked a moment of emotional clarity and renewed purpose as she looks ahead to expanding her reach beyond local stages.
