Mosiria Appeals for Apology After IShowSpeed Incident in Nairobi

Nairobi’s Citizen Engagement and Customer Service CEC Geoffrey Mosiria has publicly appealed to the management and organisers of American streamer Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, to issue an apology to Kenyan digital content creator James, alias Jaymoh Decin. The appeal follows an incident that occurred during IShowSpeed’s highly publicised Nairobi appearance, where Jaymoh was pushed while attempting to participate in a challenge linked to the event.

Mosiria shared his concerns through a video posted on his official social media platforms on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. In the clip, he expressed deep discomfort over how the local creator was treated, stressing that Jaymoh Decin had been officially invited to be part of an activity involving the visiting streamer. According to Mosiria, the situation raised serious questions about accountability and respect for Kenyan creatives who collaborate with international personalities.

He explained that Jaymoh had followed all instructions given to him by the organisers, including completing a challenge even before IShowSpeed arrived at the venue. From Mosiria’s perspective, this made the incident more troubling, since Jaymoh was not acting on his own initiative but was fulfilling agreed arrangements.

“Niuchunga sana kuona Jaymo Decin alivyosukumwa, alisukumwa na IShowSpeed,” Mosiria expressed concern.

He went on to emphasise that the matter would not be ignored and that he intended to engage directly with IShowSpeed’s team.

“Am going to follow this matter up, I’m going to look for the management of IShowSpeed so that they apologise. They invited him there to do a challenge with IShowSpeed after he did a challenge before he came, and they are the people who actually told him to do that challenge before he came here.”

Why does Mosiria believe the organisers should take responsibility?

Mosiria firmly placed responsibility on the organisers and IShowSpeed’s team, arguing that they were directly involved in planning the challenge and inviting Jaymoh Decin to participate. Because of this, he stated that it was only fair for them to address the outcome of the situation.

He called on the organisers to create another opportunity for Jaymoh to complete the challenge in a proper setting and to accompany this gesture with a public apology. For Mosiria, this would not only correct the immediate wrong but also send a message that local creators deserve dignity and fair treatment when engaging with global stars.

“So am appealing to the organisers, those who invited IShowSpeed, to make arrangements so that Jaymoh can have a chance to do that challenge and also apologise for pushing him,” he said.

How does this incident reflect on support for local creators in Kenya?

Beyond the specific altercation, Mosiria used the moment to speak directly to Kenyans about the importance of supporting homegrown talent. He questioned why local creators often struggle for recognition while international figures receive overwhelming backing and admiration.

“I want to appeal to Kenyans, let us support one of our own. Ikiwa tuliweza kumfollow IshowSpeed, mbona Jaymo tusimufollow ata yeye akuwe celeb wetu?” he urged.

The incident itself was captured on video and later went viral online. In the footage, IShowSpeed is seen pushing Jaymoh Decin as the Kenyan creator tries to approach him at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre. The moment quickly sparked debate across social media platforms, adding another layer of scrutiny to IShowSpeed’s ongoing Africa tour.

IShowSpeed’s visit to Kenya has otherwise been marked by massive crowds and intense excitement, with fans following him through different parts of Nairobi as he livestreamed his experiences. While the tour has drawn global attention and showcased Kenya to millions of viewers worldwide, the altercation has highlighted the need for clearer boundaries, better coordination, and mutual respect between international influencers and local creatives.
