Pastor Victor Kanyari Addresses Claims He Is Mourning More Openly Than Tash

Why Is Kanyari’s Mourning Being Compared to Tash’s?
Salvation Healing Ministries founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has spoken out following rising claims that he appears to be mourning more openly than Betty Bayo’s widower, Hiram Gitau, widely known as Tash. During a Facebook live session on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, he explained that his emotional reactions have been driven purely by grief rather than any form of competition. He emphasized that grief shows up differently in everyone, and his own expression is simply natural for him.

“So when people say that Kanyari is crying and mourning more than Tash, everyone has their own way of expressing grief. I am a very emotional person, and when I cry, it comes naturally; no one can control that,” Kanyari shared.

Kanyari reflected on the role Betty Bayo played in his life, stressing that she was the link that introduced him to Tash. He expressed deep respect for Tash, acknowledging how he stepped in to care for Sky and Dani after their separation.

“Betty Bayo is actually the reason I got to know Tash. If it were not for Tash, maybe even my children would have faced challenges, but I respect Tash because he has been taking care of Sky and Dany,” he shared.

He added that Betty and Tash lived together while he continued supporting the children financially. He often visited their home to pick up the children and later return them, a routine that built mutual understanding between the families.

“I have the financial statements showing how I have been supporting my children, but Tash, together with Betty Bayo, is the one who lived together and took care of them. Sometimes I would visit, pick them up, and later return them. That is why I give credit to Tash and his family, and I mourn together with him,” Kanyari added.

What Message Is Kanyari Sending to Kenyans?
Kanyari urged Kenyans to avoid negativity and stop comparing his grief with Tash’s. He reminded fans that this period should focus on honouring Betty Bayo’s life, her ministry, and the people she touched through her music.

“In our culture, we do not speak ill of the dead, and my heart is filled with sadness as we find the strength to talk about someone like Betty Bayo, who touched so many hearts. She sang songs that led people to salvation and songs that made us love her deeply. Betty Bayo was everything,” he said.

He went on to describe her as a woman who healed hearts and inspired faith. He expressed how far he would have gone to save her if it had been possible.

“She sang songs that led people to salvation and songs that made us love her deeply. Betty Bayo was everything. If I had been told to give, I would have given billions of shillings just to make her well again. I would have found that money. But God loved her more, and this is the time to speak good things about Betty Bayo, not bad ones,” Kanyari said.

The pastor closed by encouraging the public to focus on her legacy and preserve the positive impact she left behind.
