How Did Uhuru Kenyatta Support Betty Bayo’s Family?
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended a compassionate hand to the late gospel musician Betty Bayo’s family by donating KSh 1 million through the Kenyatta Foundation. Bayo, known for her heart-touching gospel songs, passed away after a silent battle with cancer, leaving her family and fans in shock. The donation aims to assist with burial expenses and provide educational support for her children.
Kikuyu musician Ben Githae shared the news, stating, “After Uhuru Kenyatta donated KSh 1 million for this burial through the Kenyatta Foundation, he also asked for the names of Betty Bayo’s kids so that they can sponsor their education.” The gesture comes at a critical time as the family had launched a fundraiser to cover funeral costs, and it ensures that her children’s schooling will continue uninterrupted.
What Has Been the Public Reaction?
Kenyans on social media have lauded Uhuru’s act of generosity. Many celebrated the support as a reflection of divine timing and care for Bayo’s children. Comments included, “The God she serve he will never leave her children to suffer, kutumikia Mungu Kuna malipo,” and “God closes one door and opens another; the dream of the mother was for Sky to have quality education and look, God gave the best hand of help kazi ya Mungu haina makosa.”
Meanwhile, Bayo’s husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, expressed gratitude, highlighting the peaceful co-parenting relationship they maintained. He stated, “She was a very good woman, even in terms of co-parenting. I was the one who had been paying the kids’ school fees, and we would collaborate on a lot of issues, and she would not have any problems.”
Following her passing, Bayo’s daughter Sky received comfort from close family friends, including Shiru Wa GP, who picked her from school and provided emotional support. Kanyari was also seen consoling his children as they processed the loss.
Uhuru Kenyatta’s donation, coupled with ongoing family and community support, ensures that Betty Bayo’s legacy lives on through her children’s education and the love she inspired among her fans and family.
