Pastor Kanyari Claims Mosiria’s Demotion Stemmed from Disrespecting His Anointing

Pastor Victor Kanyari has linked former Nairobi Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria’s demotion to what he says was a failure to respect him as an anointed servant of God. During a Sunday service on November 30, 2025, the Salvation Healing Ministries founder addressed his congregation and revisited a past confrontation with Mosiria, explaining that the county official had once harassed him for roasting meat at his church compound.

Kanyari told his congregation that he believed God intervened on his behalf, arguing that his anointing carried its own form of spiritual defense. He insisted that he did not utter any curse yet still witnessed what he described as divine justice. “Even that Nairobi Environment Chief Officer, Mosiria, was reassigned. I did not curse him, but never disrespect a man of God or his servants. I have also seen people on social media saying that Kanyari and Mosiria had a falling out and that Mosiria was removed from his docket because of me,” he said.

The preacher added that online speculation had unfairly associated him with Mosiria’s misfortune. While distancing himself from any direct role, he maintained that God had acted. “The Bible says never point a finger at a man of God, and Mosiria played with Pastor Kanyari, and he was reassigned to a position where he is barely visible. Haha. The oil of my anointing fought for me even before I spoke,” he added.

Kanyari went on to explain a symbolic act he performed, which he described as a spiritual ritual using two eggs. According to him, the ritual represented divine judgment. He narrated how he went out onto a road, cracked the eggs, and invoked Mosiria’s name as part of the act. “I went to the street, performed a ritual breaking two eggs, and I said one egg is for Mosiria. When I broke the eggs, I said, Mosiria, go down,” he said.

What Led to Mosiria’s Reassignment?

Geoffrey Mosiria had been a visible and active county official known for strict enforcement within the Environment docket. His work included targeting illegal dumping, closing unlicensed waste sites, withdrawing permits from non-compliant service providers, and pushing for stronger waste management standards across Nairobi. He also took a firm position on public nuisance issues like urinating in restricted areas, excessive noise from matatus, and hawker activities in residential estates.

Despite his wide-ranging enforcement efforts, Mosiria was moved from his influential position to head the Citizen Engagement and Customer Service department. The reshuffle, announced on November 19, 2025, by Governor Johnson Sakaja, took effect immediately. In the same announcement, Chief Officer Hibrahim Otieno, formerly in charge of Medical Facilities, was appointed to lead the Environment docket.

How Did the County Restructure Its Leadership?

The transfer formed part of a broader county-level reorganization. While the public continues to discuss both the political and spiritual narratives surrounding Mosiria’s demotion, the county described the move as an administrative adjustment intended to strengthen service delivery.
