A 24-year-old woman has been arrested in Kitengela after allegedly stabbing her 38-year-old husband to death following a domestic quarrel. The incident occurred in the Orata area of Kitengela town, Kajiado County, leaving the community shaken.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Elizabeth Wanjiku Muthoni, stabbed her husband, Simon Peter Thuku, on the thigh during an altercation on Sunday evening. The couple had reportedly attended a church service together earlier that day before the disagreement escalated into violence. Thuku was rushed to Kitengela Sub-County Hospital by neighbors and Good Samaritans but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

What do the family members say?

Speaking about the tragedy, the victim’s father, Reuben Thuku Njuguna, revealed that his son’s marriage of two years had been troubled from the beginning. He explained that the suspect had previously attacked his son on several occasions.

“She had in another incident stabbed my son on the chest and in another incident attempted to stab him while at the in-laws’ home,” Njuguna said.

The family had made several attempts to intervene and even suggested separation due to ongoing violence, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Njuguna is now urging investigating agencies to ensure justice is served while also appealing to well-wishers for financial assistance to help bury his son in Nakuru.

How has the community responded?

Neighbors condemned the act, describing it as a heinous crime that has robbed a young man of his life. Many expressed concern about the repeated domestic conflicts that reportedly went unresolved until the tragedy unfolded.

Confirming the incident, Isinya Sub-County Police Commander Simon Lokitari said investigations are ongoing. He emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully.

“We urge the public to refrain from taking the law into their hands during conflicts and instead resolve conflicts mutually,” Lokitari stated.
