Post-Mortem Reveals Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu Was Shot Eight Times at Close Range

Lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu was confirmed to have been shot eight times in the fatal attack that claimed his life earlier this week. Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, who conducted the post-mortem examination, revealed that the bullets were fired at close range and appeared to be intentional.

What Did the Autopsy Findings Show?

According to Dr. Oduor, most of the gunshots were directed from the victim’s right side, with two bullets recovered from his body. One was found lodged in his spine. The severe injuries to his neck vessels and spine caused massive internal bleeding, which ultimately led to his death.

“We found that Wakili was shot eight times, and most of the gunshots came from the right side of the body. We were able to recover two bullets, which were given to the investigating officers for ballistic purposes,” Dr. Oduor explained. “There was a lot of bleeding because of injury to the neck vessels and spine. They were severe enough to cause death.”

The bullets retrieved from the body will undergo ballistic analysis, which authorities hope will help determine the firearm type and caliber of ammunition used in the killing. Investigators report that progress has been made, but no suspects or motives have been confirmed.

What Happened During the Attack?

On Tuesday evening, Mbobu was ambushed at about 5:40 pm along Magadi Road, Nairobi. Armed assailants on a motorbike targeted his head before quickly fleeing the scene.

The brutal murder has sent shockwaves through Kenya’s legal fraternity, with lawyers urging the police to speed up investigations to uncover those responsible and the motive behind the killing.
