Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko made headlines again, this time for turning a luxurious Tanzanian wedding into a moment of viral opulence. Sonko attended the double wedding of Ally B and Septuu, as well as Ally S and Amney, children of his longtime friend Mzee Chief Kiumbe. The event was nothing short of extravagant.

What Made the Wedding So Spectacular?

The wedding, captured in videos shared by Tanzanian MC Luvanda, was a grand affair. Guests were treated to an elegant setting complete with luxurious floral décor, velvet seating, and warm, romantic lighting. Smooth rhumba melodies set the tone as East Africa’s top celebrities mingled with the guests.

Sonko arrived in a striking tuxedo with a sharp half-piece coat, embodying his signature blend of style and flair. But beyond his outfit, it was his actions that left the room buzzing. During the gifting session, the former governor took center stage, pulling out stacks of hundred-dollar bills and slowly counting them before showering the newlyweds with a total of $900 (about KSh116,280).

How Did Social Media React to Sonko’s Dollar Drop?

MC Luvanda, who posted the video, wrote: “Mike Sonko, governor wa zamani wa Nairobi, na rafiki mkubwa wa Mzee Chief Kiumbe akitoa kibunda cha dola kwenye Double LoveStory ya AllyB & Septuu and AllyS & Amney.”

The clip quickly went viral, with Kenyans and Tanzanians flooding social media with reactions:

  • touchesbyprince_photography: “Michezo ya dollar ilikua mingi humu.”
  • edwinmzee: “Sonko wa masonko.”
  • kigingi_og: “Huyo mwamba ni boss kubwa sana.”
  • francefrance639: “Mbona venue ya kimasikini wakat harus ya mtoto wa tajiri.”
  • 27gkjunior: “Mc ametoa macho kisa ajabandikwa Sonkoree.”

Did Sonko Address Anything Beyond the Celebrations?

Despite the celebration, Sonko also took a moment during his speech to comment on the ongoing unrest in Kenya. Though brief, his remarks were appreciated by viewers who saw him balancing celebration with civic awareness.
