A police officer attached to Tembelio Police Post in Ainabkoi Sub-county, Uasin Gishu County, is now in custody after allegedly shooting dead his girlfriend and another man in what authorities believe was a love triangle. The shocking incident took place around midnight at Kokwet Bar, a local entertainment joint reportedly owned by the female victim.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the details, stating that the officer had confronted his girlfriend over suspicions of infidelity. “When the other man attempted to intervene and defuse the situation, the officer allegedly opened fire, fatally shooting both,” Mwanthi said.
How did police respond to the double homicide?
The officer is reported to have used his official firearm in the attack, leaving both victims dead at the scene. Fellow officers swiftly responded to the scene, where they disarmed and arrested their colleague. He is now being held at a local police station in Eldoret as the investigation gets underway.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary in Eldoret. Authorities have since launched a full probe into the case, which has stunned residents and ignited conversations around mental health, relationships, and access to firearms among law enforcement personnel.
The officer, whose name has not been released, faces serious charges as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Internal Affairs Unit prepare to handle the matter with urgency.
