Manchester United are making big moves this transfer window, and the first name on their list is none other than Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward has reportedly reached a full verbal agreement with United, and the deal is done.
He’s expected to sign a five-year contract that could extend until 2031.
Cunha gave his approval to United even before the Europa League final, showing his commitment and passion for joining the Red Devils. Interestingly, he chose United even though the club is not in the UEFA Champions League next season. That didn’t bother him at all. His heart was already set on making Old Trafford his new home.
Wolverhampton Wanderers, his current club, will receive £62.5 million for the transfer. The amount will be paid in installments, and both clubs are working on the final paperwork this week to close the deal.
Cunha’s move comes after what he described as the best season of his life. In an emotional message posted on Instagram, he thanked Wolves and their fans for an unforgettable journey. He admitted the team didn’t reach the heights they deserved, but he was proud of the effort they gave every game.

One of Cunha’s standout achievements this season was becoming the joint-highest scoring Brazilian in a single Premier League season. He now shares that honor with Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Martinelli, a testament to how far he has come.
Even though he admitted to making mistakes, Cunha made it clear that every moment he played was driven by love for the club. His farewell message was heartfelt and showed just how much Wolves meant to him. He said, “All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for Wolves.”
With his time at Molineux coming to an end, fans can look back at his contribution with pride.
