What happened during the wedding ceremony?
A wedding in Uganda turned tragic when a bride collapsed and died moments after exchanging vows with her groom. The young woman, radiant in her white gown, appeared weak as she recited her vows. At first, neither the groom nor the pastor raised an alarm. However, her voice soon grew incoherent, and her legs became unsteady. Guests rushed to support her as she struggled to remain standing.
Eyewitnesses said she was quickly taken to the hospital but later passed away. Videos and photos from the heartbreaking moment have circulated widely, leaving many in shock over a day that was meant to mark her happiest milestone.
How did witnesses and netizens react?
Reactions from those at the ceremony and social media users reflect the deep grief surrounding the incident. Emma, a friend of the couple, said: “We took her to the hospital, but she finally took her last breath. Allan, just be strong, my man.”
Another user, Mashakira, shared medical advice: “Always allows a collapsed person to fall and loosen clothing, plus fanning her with a cloth or anything. Falling is the body’s mechanism to let more blood reach the brain, but if you keep her/him standing, you disrupt this process and lead to death.”
Milton Tumusiime added: “A lot of pain to the husband and family members, so painful, may the Lord strengthen you people and friends.”
This devastating case mirrors another tragedy in Kiambu County, Kenya. There, a family preparing for a wedding was forced to turn the celebration into a funeral after the bride-to-be, Regina Nduta Kungu, died just days before her big day. She was laid to rest on the same date she was meant to walk down the aisle.
