A viral video of Pastor Ng’ang’a handing a female congregant cash to fix her hair has sparked mixed reactions online. Known for his bold statements and unconventional approach to ministry, the controversial preacher surprised worshippers when he stopped a woman mid-altar call and questioned her appearance.

Why Did Pastor Ng’ang’a Give Money for Hair?

In the clip, the woman, wearing a purple t-shirt, approached the altar along with others responding to a call from the pulpit. But before prayers or blessings, Pastor Ng’ang’a took note of her rugged, unkempt natural hair and asked why she hadn’t done anything to it. While gently touching it, he said, “Come here, take this. Go and do your hair. Do you have a place to do that now or in the morning? It looks so bad. You do not even have oil. It’s that tough.”

He then pulled out several KSh 1,000 notes and handed them to her, continuing, “Go do your hair and sleep well. Then come back tomorrow. Have they closed the salons already? Give out your number, and leave now before they close. Return tomorrow dressed nicely. Let the devil swallow a razor.” The woman, visibly emotional, left the church in tears after the encounter.

How Have Kenyans Reacted Online?

Netizens were quick to jump into the conversation, offering a mix of praise, humor, and critique:

  • @Lawra100: “I have noticed Commander loves beautiful hair.”
  • @Grace Kana: “Commander hapendi nywele ikikaa vibaya, sijui niende huko za salon.”
  • @Shiks Shiko: “Yaani kutengeneza nywele inatreatiwa kama emergency kwa Ng’ang’a.”
  • @Mercyshavinah: “Ama siri ni kubomoa nywele na uende kwa Ng’ang’a.”

Some viewers admired his generosity, while others questioned why hair has become such a priority in church.

Can Hairstyle End a Marriage?

This isn’t the first time Pastor Ng’ang’a has linked appearances to deeper life issues. In a separate incident, a woman approached him seeking spiritual insight after her husband walked out on their marriage. The preacher didn’t hesitate to blame her hairstyle: “Your husband left because of your looks. Why would you shave your hair like a man? He didn’t want to live with another man at home.”

He advised her to get a new hairstyle if she wanted to win her husband back.
