How Is President Ruto Defending His Leadership Choices?
President William Ruto has made it clear that he stands by the tough decisions he has taken for Kenya’s economic future, stating he has “no regret whatsoever.” Speaking during the launch of the Affordable Housing Internship Programme at State House, Ruto pushed back against his critics, saying their disapproval will not derail his vision to transform the country.

“We have a plan on how to create jobs, my friends. So let nobody lie to you,” he said firmly, brushing off growing political opposition. He also challenged those claiming Kenya is becoming a failed state, asserting, “We must reject those who want to tell us otherwise… that oh, Kenya is a failed state. Do you know what a failed state looks like?”

What Is Ruto’s Economic Strategy?
According to the President, Kenya’s economy is recovering and on solid ground. “Today, I can confidently tell the country that our economy is on sound footing and we are going to improve on it,” he said.

Ruto emphasized that his administration is focused on critical issues, including inflation, the cost of living, and food security. “I’m very clear in my mind on what we need to do to make sure that we create a food security system, deal with inflation, deal with the cost of living, and make sure that the cost of food does not cause a crisis,” he noted.

He pointed to national statistics as evidence that his policies are working, adding that difficult choices had to be made for the long-term benefit of the country.

Why Is Ruto Urging Kenyans to Be Patient?
The President acknowledged concerns over the number of projects his administration has taken on but remained unapologetic. “I hear so many people saying, You have taken on too many assignments. You know you should do some of these now. You should wait. You remain popular so that you can implement some of them some other time.”

Ruto argued that past delays in national transformation can no longer be tolerated. “It is not always that you get an opportunity to be president. It comes once in a lifetime. So when you get that opportunity, don’t waste it, right?” he said.
