Citizen TV anchor Rashid Abdalla has responded to claims made by Eddy Oloo Uduny, a man who went viral for alleging that Rashid ignored his Facebook messages for over four years. Uduny claimed the two had worked together in Mombasa in the early 2000s, allegedly connecting DSTV cables before Rashid became a well-known media personality.

Who is Eddy Uduny, and what did he claim?

In a widely shared online post, Uduny narrated how he and Rashid were friends back in Mombasa. “Rashid Abdalla the news anchor, used to be my friend way back in Mombasa. He used to connect for us DSTV cables, and we would pay him at the end of the month,” he stated.

Uduny added that they lost touch when he moved to South Sudan in 2008. Years later, after spotting Rashid on TV, he claimed to have sent a Facebook message saying, “Hey, Rashid, it was nice seeing you on Citizen TV. Do you still remember me?” According to him, the message was never answered. “That message has never been answered four years down the lane,” he said, questioning whether Rashid had forgotten him or if he had messaged a pseudo account.

How did Rashid Abdalla respond to the allegations?

When contacted by Radio 47, Rashid dismissed the claims entirely. “Every job has its value, but it’s very important for people to know that when I finished studying journalism in Nairobi, I got my first job at a radio station. Other jobs I did while hustling included ballot counting,” he explained.

Rashid made it clear that he had never worked as a cable installer. “I respect all DSTV employees, but I’ve never worked there. Where I worked was at SuperSport,” he said, clarifying that any association with cable work was inaccurate. He also cautioned against using false stories to chase clout. “Next time, don’t go looking for a story where there is none,” he warned.

Did Rashid offer to speak with Uduny?

Despite his frustration, Rashid ended on a lighter note. “He’s remained on his… but let it be a lesson to others. Even if it’s someone you know, when you write about them as an example, what are you trying to gain? First, stop telling lies,” he stated. He said the claim had cracked his ribs and even offered to call the man directly.
