Beyoncé’s highly guarded unreleased music has reportedly been stolen in Atlanta, just days before she hit the stage for her “Cowboy Carter” tour stop in the city. Atlanta police confirmed that several jump drives containing unreleased tracks, concert plans, and setlists were taken from a rental vehicle used by Beyoncé’s choreographer and a dancer.
According to a police incident report, the theft occurred on July 8, two days before Beyoncé’s Atlanta performances. Choreographer Christopher Grant, 37, told authorities that he returned to the car to find the rear window shattered and all of their luggage gone. Among the stolen items were USB drives that held watermarked music files, unreleased content, stage footage, and both past and upcoming show plans.
What exactly was stolen from the vehicle?
In addition to the unreleased music, the thieves made off with an Apple MacBook, headphones, and several pieces of luxury clothing. Police tracked the MacBook and headphones to a nearby location, but the report didn’t confirm whether anything had been recovered.
Is there any progress in the investigation?
Atlanta Police issued a warrant for an unnamed suspect, who remains at large. Authorities have not disclosed further details, and no arrests have been made as of Monday.
How does this impact Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour?
Despite the breach, Beyoncé carried on with her Atlanta shows, wrapping up a four-night run on Monday. The “Cowboy Carter” tour, which began in April, promotes her genre-shifting 2024 album that earned her the Grammy for Album of the Year. The country-inspired record also shines a spotlight on Black artists in the genre, aiming to reclaim their overlooked legacy. The final tour stops are scheduled for late July in Las Vegas.
