What Did Charlene Ruto Say on Saba Saba Day?
Charlene Ruto sparked heated reactions online after sharing a reflective message on Saba Saba Day, focusing on generational reconciliation and youth leadership. During nationwide protests led by young Kenyans over the high cost of living and police brutality, her message struck a nerve for many.
“Shared a refreshing session with brave students and young community leaders across the 47 counties of our great nation. These young leaders represent millions of young people across the country. They have decided to step up and provide objective-driven representation, structured dialogues, and alternative engagement methods that offer real, lasting solutions, not just temporary hype, likes, and short-lived attention. VIVA COMRADES!! I am proud of your courage, maturity, and leadership,” she posted.
A few hours earlier, Charlene had shared a spiritual message quoting scripture: “Malachi 4:6 states: ‘And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers…’ Generational reconciliation ❤️ Do we still have a God believing and God fearing generation?”
How Did Kenyans React to Charlene’s Message?
Online, many users felt her timing was off and accused her of being out of touch with the nation’s current frustrations. Some used her post as an opportunity to address President William Ruto directly through his daughter, urging him to take accountability and open dialogue with the youth.
“You cannot talk to us about God while all that’s being done by this regime is all ungodly,” @gerry.njuguna commented.
@Niffer.m added, “Talk to your father to talk to Kenyans, let him apologise where he has gone wrong. Let him bring the change he promised Kenyans before 2027.”
Others quoted scripture to reflect their dissatisfaction. @gathu_evans posted, “Proverbs 29:2 states, ‘When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.'”
@diablo.azul._ referenced Exodus 20:5-6 to express frustration with the leadership legacy.

Why Was Charlene Criticized Despite Promoting Peace?
While Charlene’s message aimed to inspire and promote youth leadership, many netizens felt it ignored the reality on the ground, ongoing protests, lives lost, and increasing economic pressure on ordinary Kenyans. Critics expected her to speak directly to those issues and use her platform to urge her father, the president, to engage with the people.
