Juja Member of Parliament, George Koimburi, has been found half dead after going missing on Sunday. He was discovered dumped at a coffee plantation in Kiambu County and is now receiving medical care at Plainsview Hospital, located near Ruiru town.
Koimburi’s family says the incident began when he was taken by unknown people just outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu. His wife, Ann Koimburi, was injured during the commotion as she tried to intervene. A video of the shocking event has surfaced, showing the MP being forced into a silver Subaru Forester with civilian number plates.
While many Kenyans have been asking who was behind the incident, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied any involvement. However, the DCI also admitted that Koimburi has been under investigation since Friday. He is being linked to alleged land fraud and the misuse of public funds meant for his constituency’s development.
Mrs. Koimburi shared her disappointment and concern, saying this was not the first time authorities had acted in secrecy. In the past, she explained, they had taken her husband’s phone and car during investigations but failed to give any information about his location afterward.
The news of Koimburi’s disappearance and sudden reappearance has left many in shock. His supporters are calling for transparency and justice. For now, Kenyans are waiting for more answers as the investigation continues.
