In a post on his official X account on Monday, December 15, 2025, President William Ruto announced that he had awarded Truphena the Head of State’s Commendation (HSC) for her “exemplary service to environmental stewardship.”
President Ruto praised Truphena, stating, “Truphena Muthoni is an exemplary young Kenyan whose dedication and determination embody the very best of our nation’s spirit.” He recognized that her 72-hour tree-hugging effort was a symbolic act aimed at raising awareness of environmental conservation and climate change, both nationally and globally.
In addition to the HSC, Truphena was appointed as Ambassador of the 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign, a national initiative focused on securing Kenya’s environmental future.
