Harambee Stars faced a humiliating 8–0 defeat against Senegal in a friendly match on Tuesday, November 19, 2025, leaving fans and analysts stunned. From the first whistle, Senegal dominated possession and controlled the pace, exposing gaps in Kenya’s defence and making it a frustrating match to watch.

Daniel Ndambuki, popularly known as Churchill, reacted to the result by sharing an old video of Julius Malema. In the clip, Malema says, “This thing of scores, we must agree, you can score up to what. It is not right that we are seeing they are going to 6, 7… It is an unacceptable thing we need to regulate so that the integrity of the club is not swept away.” Churchill captioned it, “Eish!! Our Harambee Stars…..Tulinyukwa 8-0!!!” His post quickly went viral, capturing the mix of shock and humor that Kenyan fans felt after the heavy defeat.

What Went Wrong for Harambee Stars?

The match exposed multiple weaknesses in Kenya’s squad. Despite a few isolated attempts to create scoring opportunities, Harambee Stars struggled to break through Senegal’s organized defence and midfield. Every Kenyan attack was met with swift counterplay, and the team’s lack of cohesion became apparent as the scoreboard kept swelling against them. For many, it was a hard pill to swallow, especially after the team’s solid showing at the CHAN tournament.

How Kenyans Reacted Online

Social media quickly became a hub for reactions, ranging from disbelief to playful banter. Some fans joked about the team needing a refresher on basic football rules, while others used humor to cope with the embarrassment. Churchill’s post, blending satire and reality, captured the national sentiment perfectly, offering a laugh amid the frustration.

While friendly matches are meant to test strategies and build experience, this result highlights areas that require urgent attention. Kenya now faces the challenge of regrouping, improving defensive tactics, and restoring confidence ahead of upcoming international fixtures. For now, the 8–0 loss is a reminder that in football, sometimes the scoreboard writes its own shocking story, and Kenyans are finding humor even in the heartbreak.
