In an emotional Instagram post on Monday, November 10, 2025, Trevor wrote, “It was just yesterday that my wife was asking me to invite Betty to perform at our upcoming December event. I’m deeply saddened by the news of her passing. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”

The celebrated artist, whose full name was Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Kenyatta National Hospital private wing. Her death shocked fans, colleagues, and fellow musicians across the country.

A family representative speaking on behalf of her husband, Hiram Gitau, confirmed that Betty died at 1:03 p.m., ending days of speculation about her condition. The spokesperson revealed that Betty had been battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding.

“She was initially admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025,” the representative said.
