Betty Bayo’s Husband Overwhelmed with Grief After Singer’s Death

The news of gospel singer Betty Bayo’s death has left her husband, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash,  heartbroken and inconsolable. A video of him breaking down in tears upon receiving the news quickly went viral, moving many Kenyans who had followed the couple’s journey together.

Hiram and Bayo had been married since December 2021, when they held their traditional ruracio ceremony on December 17, years after the singer’s high-profile divorce from Pastor Kanyari. The pair were often celebrated as a showbiz power couple, admired for their openness, affection, and strong family bond. Both brought two children from their previous relationships, creating a blended family that many fans saw as an inspiring example of love and renewal.

Just a few months before her passing, Bayo had celebrated her husband’s birthday with a heartfelt message, writing, “Happy birthday, my hubby, as you turn a year older. Real is rare. I celebrate you and I love you.” Her words, once filled with affection, now carry a heavy sense of loss for those who knew them.

How Did Betty Bayo’s Husband React to Her Passing?

During a press conference at Kenyatta National Hospital, where the family officially confirmed Bayo’s death, Hiram was seen weeping uncontrollably as relatives tried to comfort him. The emotional moment, shared across social media, showed him seated beside Pastor Kanyari, his wife’s ex-husband, as both families mourned together. Bayo’s siblings also struggled to contain their emotions, their pain evident to all watching.

Kenyans Send Condolences to the Family

Messages of comfort poured in from fans and friends alike. Tricia Winslet wrote, “RIP Bayo. May God give the family strength.” Laura Chebet added, “May God comfort Hiram. He was a great husband to Bayo. He showed her real love.” Many echoed similar sentiments, reflecting how deeply the singer’s passing touched the public.

Bayo, known for her hit 11th Hour, leaves behind two children, Sky and Danny, whom she lovingly co-parented with Kanyari even after their separation. At the hospital, photos showed gospel artist Shiru wa GP comforting Sky, who appeared in tears and dressed in her school uniform, a heartbreaking image that captured the personal toll of the tragedy.

Betty Bayo’s passing marks a painful moment for her family, friends, and fans who cherished her music, resilience, and radiant personality. Her legacy, however, will live on through her children and the countless lives she inspired.
