Why Did Former Nun Kinse Anastasia Speak Out Against the Church?
Former Catholic sister Kinse Anastasia has once again stirred public attention after resurfacing with new claims about inappropriate behavior within the Church. Kinse, who was dismissed from her Catholic congregation for previously alleging that some priests romantically pursue nuns, maintains that her expulsion was unjust and insists she spoke the truth.
In her latest Facebook post, Kinse stood by her statements, recounting a moment when a priest allegedly crossed a line. “Sisters are meant to be priests’ wives,” she quoted the priest as saying. “He did not say it in jest. He meant it. And he acted on it,” she added.
Kinse described her experience as part of a larger pattern of mistreatment faced by many women in religious service. “The abuse is not only external. Within our own congregations, superiors sometimes wield authority as a weapon. Sisters are silenced and maltreated, leaving them vulnerable to predators. Others, instead of guiding with integrity, flirt with power and position, while the rest are crushed under obedience without justice. We see this and stay silent,” she wrote.

The former nun urged Church leaders to create safer spaces for sisters to report abuse and seek help without fear of intimidation or retaliation. She clarified that her decision to speak out was driven by a desire for reform, not revenge. “Because we do not seek scandal or validation, likes or comments, we seek truth, justice, and dignity in the house of God,” she said.
What Changes Does Kinse Want to See in the Church?
Kinse called for a transparent and secure reporting system within the Church that prioritizes the safety and dignity of nuns. She emphasized that silence only enables wrongdoing, arguing that genuine love for the Church requires courage to confront internal failings. She also vowed to delete her personal Facebook account and dedicate her efforts to any credible system the Church establishes to address these issues.
Her recent advocacy follows viral attention from an earlier revelation that led to her dismissal. Yet, despite the controversy, Kinse has found unexpected public support. She revealed that since leaving the convent, she has received numerous marriage proposals from men online, joking about the “over 1,000 suitors” in her inbox. With light humor, she even asked her followers if they would help fund her wedding, finding laughter amid the turbulence surrounding her story.
