Pastor and motivational speaker Robert Burale has taken legal action against his ex-wife, Rozina Mwakideu, and her brother, media personality Alex Mwakideu, seeking Ksh.20 million in damages for alleged defamation. The case, filed at the Milimani Chief Magistrates’ Court, centers on an interview titled “My Biggest Mistake Was Marrying Robert Burale”, published on Alex Mwakideu’s YouTube channel on October 4, 2025.
What Is Burale Accusing Them Of?
In his court documents, Burale describes himself as a cleric of national repute and claims the video portrayed him as manipulative, hypocritical, a swindler, and homosexual. He argues that the statements made during the interview were false, malicious, and intended to destroy his personal and professional reputation.
Burale also accuses Alex of professional negligence for failing to verify the claims or seek his response before airing the interview. According to the court filings, Alex’s encouragement for viewers to “share widely” allegedly worsened the spread of defamatory remarks. Burale insists that the content caused serious damage to his name, subjected him to ridicule, and impacted his ministry and livelihood.
What Is Burale Demanding From the Court?
The preacher is seeking a mandatory and permanent injunction ordering the removal of the video and any related posts. He also wants a public apology to be issued and shared widely, alongside an appeal for the deletion of all re-uploads. Burale’s suit demands general and aggravated damages totaling Ksh.20 million, as well as the costs of the case and any further relief deemed appropriate by the court.
The legal filing further references a Radio 47 segment aired on October 7, 2025, in which Alex allegedly distanced himself from some remarks made during the YouTube interview. The matter has been filed under a fast-track procedure, and the defendants are yet to file their responses.
