Kenyans React to Bahati’s New Song Seti

Veteran musician Kelvin Bahati has sparked mixed reactions online after making a comeback with his latest track, “Seti,” following a one-year hiatus from releasing new music. The father of five had been quiet musically, while his wife, Diana Marua, stole the spotlight with her viral release, “Bibi Ya Tajiri,” which garnered over one million views in just a week.

What is Bahati’s New Song About?

Ahead of the release, Bahati raised eyebrows when he posted a clip of himself walking in maroon heels, a stunt that many saw as clout-chasing. Soon after, he unveiled Seti, a song that narrates an affair with a woman who promises not to tell his wife.

The video features Bahati in a full black leather outfit riding a motorbike, accompanied by a curvaceous video vixen in a laced bodysuit dancing on him. The daring visuals and lyrical theme have left fans divided, especially given Bahati’s earlier career as a gospel artist.

His release comes less than a month after Diana dropped her track Bibi Ya Tajiri, where she declared herself Kenya’s top rapper while throwing shade at industry giants like Khaligraph Jones and King Kaka.

How Did Fans React to Bahati’s Comeback?

Online reactions have been far from subtle, with many netizens unimpressed by the direction of his new music. Some criticized the lyrics and concept as uninspired, while others felt Bahati should step away from music altogether.

@mar.cuz commented: “Familia nzima inaimba ufala.”
@lil_meeky12 added: “Arudi tuu break.”
@scavage1.0 wrote: “Huyu boy aongeze long break sasa.”
@Jayce_Kevo said: “Heri niskie kelele ya tokens.”

Others expressed disappointment in his shift from gospel to secular, with @g.i.r.l.ie.e.26 stating: “It’s surprising how far this guy has gone. From gospel, glorifying God, to glorifying the world. It’s honestly sad.”

Despite the backlash, Bahati remains in the spotlight, proving that whether loved or criticized, his music continues to stir conversations across Kenya’s entertainment scene.
