Esma Platnumz has stepped in to address online chatter surrounding her brother Diamond Platnumz after a viral post sparked speculation about why his lips appear shiny. The discussion began when a social media user questioned Diamond’s appearance, writing, “Kwani anko (Diamond Platnumz) anapaka nini mdomoni Lips zinameremeta.” The comment quickly gained attention, drawing mixed reactions and unnecessary theories.
Responding on her Instagram account on Thursday, December 25, 2025, Esma dismissed the speculation and made it clear that there was nothing unusual about Diamond’s lip care. She shared a photo and addressed the issue directly, choosing clarity over silence.
“Acheni ushamba nawajibu sasa hiii ni lip balm,” Esma said.
She explained that the shine comes from a simple and commonly used product that Diamond applies regularly. According to her, the lip balm is not a secret beauty trick or a rare product reserved for celebrities. Instead, it is a basic personal care item that many people use daily without attracting attention.
Esma went further to explain how Diamond gets the product, emphasizing that there is no mystery surrounding it. “Ambayo Uncle wake Tahiya huwa anamnunulia Akisafiri au anaOrder,” she said. Her explanation highlighted that the lip balm is either bought during travels or ordered, just like any other everyday item.
She also made it clear that the product is easily accessible to anyone interested. “Zinapatikana sana Uk km mnataka na nyinyi mtajiwe jina,” Esma said. Her response aimed to normalize lip care for men and discourage the habit of turning simple grooming routines into exaggerated online debates.
Why did Esma respond to the lip balm debate
Esma explained that the effectiveness of the product lies in its basic function rather than anything extraordinary. “Ni nzuri kwa lips inaMoisturize vizuri tu,” she said. According to her, the shine people notice is simply the result of well-moisturized lips, not makeup or cosmetic enhancement.
While addressing the issue, Esma also expressed visible frustration with the constant scrutiny surrounding her brother. “Ila Binaadamu nachoka mimi,” she said, signaling fatigue from repeatedly responding to trivial questions about Diamond’s appearance. Her reaction reflected a broader issue faced by public figures and their families, where even minor details are often blown out of proportion online.
Esma is known for speaking up when conversations involving Diamond take an unnecessary turn. Although Diamond Platnumz is one of East Africa’s most celebrated music stars, Esma has carved out her own identity as a businesswoman who does not shy away from defending her family when needed. In this case, her focus was not on fueling drama but on correcting misinformation and encouraging common sense.
Her use of the phrase “Acheni ushamba” underscored her belief that the topic did not deserve the level of attention it received. To her, proper grooming and self-care are normal practices that should not be questioned or mocked, regardless of gender or fame.
By addressing the issue openly, Esma brought the conversation to a close and reminded the public that good lip care is basic hygiene, not a spectacle. Her message reinforced that Diamond’s shiny lips are simply the result of using lip balm, and nothing more.
