TikToker Esther Migwi has ignited widespread discussion online after openly addressing child support and parenting issues she associates with men from the Mt Kenya region. Her remarks, shared at a time when schools had just reopened and parents were facing renewed financial pressure, quickly gained traction across social media platforms.

In a TikTok video posted on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Migwi directly challenged women who were struggling to pay school fees for their children. She framed her message as a reality check, urging women to reflect on their choices and the level of support they receive from their children’s fathers.

“Baby daddy ametuma pesa ya school fees ama ulizaa na wanaume wa mulima?” Migwi asked.

Her statement immediately set the tone for a broader conversation about responsibility, co-parenting, and accountability after relationships end. Migwi did not hold back, presenting her views as a pattern she claims to have observed repeatedly.

Why does Esther Migwi say Mt Kenya men neglect their children?

Migwi went on to allege that a large number of men from the Mt Kenya region abandon their parental responsibilities once romantic relationships break down. According to her, separation often marks the end of financial and emotional support for children.

“Wanaume wa mulima, as long as hamko pamoja hawaku support na watoto, 90%. Hii 10% ni wale wako na brand na hawataki kuchoma,” she said.

She further claimed that wealth does not necessarily translate to responsibility. In her view, even men with significant financial means allegedly avoid supporting their children, sometimes going to extreme lengths to appear broke.

“Mwanaume wa murima ata akue ni businessman… Kwanza akue ni businessman na ako billionaire atafanya juu chini heri atoe ongo aonekane hana kakitu,” she claimed.

Migwi suggested that this behavior often has long-term consequences. She argued that neglecting children may bring temporary relief from responsibility, but the emotional and moral cost eventually catches up with those involved.

“Wanatakanga waprove hawana kakitu, huwa wanakutesa. Ndio maana unaona baadaye kinarudi kinawaramba,” Migwi said.

Her comments positioned child neglect not just as a personal failure, but as a choice that carries lasting repercussions.

What warning did Migwi give to women about relationships and parenting?

Beyond criticism, Migwi used her platform to issue a strong warning to women, particularly those considering starting families. She claimed that many men who initially abandon their children later attempt to reconnect after years of absence, often when it is convenient for them.

“Ndio maana unapata wakiwa wazee wanaanza kutafuta wale biological children na hiyo time wamekua wakikaa na mtu mwingine,” she said.

Migwi urged women to take time before committing emotionally or starting families, stressing the importance of understanding a partner’s values, history, and sense of responsibility.

“Fanyeni research before upewe mimba na mtu wa mulima kitakuramba,” she warned.

Her remarks drew mixed reactions. Some viewers agreed with her, stating that her claims reflected real experiences faced by many single mothers. Others pushed back strongly, accusing Migwi of unfairly stereotyping an entire region and ignoring the fact that absentee parenting exists across all communities.

Critics argued that irresponsibility is an individual issue rather than a regional one, warning that such statements could deepen social divisions. Despite the criticism, Migwi remained firm, explaining that she intended to provoke honest dialogue about accountability and child welfare.
