Pritty Vishy Opens Up on Caring for Her Nonverbal Autistic Sister

Content creator Pritty Vishy has shared a deeply personal account of the emotional and daily realities she faces while raising her nonverbal autistic sister. Through an honest Instagram post shared on Monday, December 22, 2025, Vishy offered a rare and unfiltered look into the responsibilities that shape her everyday life, especially during moments that demand extra patience, care, and emotional strength.

She recounted a particularly overwhelming day when she had to guide her sister through her first menstrual cycle. The experience, she explained, required constant attention from morning onward, leaving little room for rest or emotional recovery. Vishy described mornings like these as moments when she is permanently alert, moving carefully through routines that combine physical care with emotional reassurance.

“Wash her, clean her, or take care of her. I have to, because I don’t want her to cry every time,” she explained in her video, capturing the weight of responsibility that comes with caregiving.

Beyond the physical tasks, Vishy highlighted the emotional strain that comes with supporting someone who cannot communicate verbally. When new milestones arise, especially ones that are confusing or uncomfortable, the challenge becomes heavier. She noted that the inability to explain what is happening or why it is happening adds another layer of pressure to an already demanding role.

“Having a disabled kid, a nonverbal disabled kid, and then if she can’t have her menses, is the hardest and most overwhelming time,” Vishy noted.

What daily challenges come with caring for a nonverbal autistic sibling?

Vishy’s experience reflects the reality many caregivers face but rarely discuss publicly. Caring for a nonverbal autistic individual requires constant observation, adaptability, and emotional control. Simple routines like hygiene, dressing, and emotional regulation demand more time and patience, especially during moments of discomfort or distress.

She explained that these responsibilities are not occasional but daily, often requiring her to anticipate needs before they are expressed. This level of attentiveness can be exhausting, yet it remains necessary to maintain a sense of safety and stability for her sister. Vishy emphasized that even when she feels overwhelmed, consistency in care is not optional.

Despite the physical and emotional demands, she continues to center love and reassurance in everything she does. Her commitment goes beyond duty, rooted in a desire to ensure her sister feels protected and valued regardless of the challenges they face.

“Every day, I just try as much as I can to show her love, to show that I care,” she said.

Why emotional support matters in special needs caregiving

Vishy also spoke about the emotional isolation that often comes with caregiving. While friends and followers may offer encouragement, the lived experience of caring for a nonverbal autistic person can feel lonely. She shared that some moments intensify this feeling, especially when communication barriers become more visible.

“Days like these, I wish my sister could talk,” she said, expressing a longing for connection and understanding that words could provide.

Her honesty sheds light on a side of caregiving that is often overlooked. It is not only about managing routines but also about coping with the emotional gaps left by limited communication. By sharing her story, Vishy contributes to broader awareness about autism, caregiving, and the silent resilience required to support loved ones with special needs.

Her openness resonates with many young adults navigating family responsibilities alongside personal growth. It also reinforces the importance of empathy, patience, and sustained support for caregivers who shoulder immense responsibilities every day, often without recognition.
