Pritty Vishy has spoken out following the death of a fan at a concert featuring Nigerian artist Asake, highlighting both poor crowd behaviour and insufficient safety measures. The incident, which occurred on December 20, 2025, in Nairobi, has reignited discussions around event management and crowd control at large gatherings.
What Went Wrong at the Concert?
According to Pritty, the tragedy could have been prevented if attendees had followed order and discipline. She stated, “Management is not the problem, the occupy mentality is.” Vishy explained that when people push and rush without structure, dangerous situations emerge. She added that an orderly entry and movement within the venue could have prevented the fatal incident.
Pritty contrasted these incidents with other types of events, noting that crowd behaviour plays a significant role in safety. “Let’s use the ‘Christianity’ concerts,” she said, emphasizing that such tragedies rarely occur there because “hakunanga watu wa ku occupy.” She stressed that the problem tends to appear at specific shows where fans rush to claim space, particularly naming events like those featuring Asake.
Who Is Responsible for Crowd Safety?
While Pritty highlighted the role of crowd mentality, she also emphasized that accountability extends to event management. “Mtu anafaa kulaumiwa ni the management,” she said, pointing out that security teams are crucial in preventing chaos. She called for proper planning, clearly defined movement paths, and firm crowd control as key strategies to avoid similar tragedies. Pritty cautioned against blaming only one side, noting that both attendees and management share responsibility for ensuring safety.
The singer also mourned the loss of the fan, writing, “RIP LAROJE,” and expressing her sorrow over the untimely death. Following the incident, Asake released a statement confirming the death of Karen Lojore and reflecting on the impact of the tragedy during his Nairobi performance. He said, “My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Karen Lojore,” adding that he has been deeply affected by the loss.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of disciplined crowd behaviour and strong event safety measures. Concert organizers and security personnel must ensure meticulous planning and control to protect attendees, while fans must also act responsibly to prevent unnecessary harm.
