Musician and entrepreneur Karagu Kimani, popularly known as KRG The Don, has firmly denied claims circulating online that he was being auctioned. During an interview with Alex Mwakideu in an episode aired on December 2, 2025, he clarified that the situation being discussed involved attempts to seize his mother’s property, not his. KRG explained that his public profile often attracts gossip, with some people deliberately spreading narratives to provoke him into responding.
He said, “Kuna kesi inaendelea lakini si mimi kuna watu ambao wanajaribu mambo yao kum intimidate mamangu, you see anything that touches my family because I am the one in my family who is known, so it will be me.” He added that gossipers push these stories to get a reaction from him. “Wambea watajaribu kuguza guza mahali ili u react vile wanataka.“
KRG confirmed that the issue is already before the court, and he warned anyone attempting to intimidate his family. “The good thing is that this is a matter before the court of law, and our lawyers are working on it, and anyone who thinks they can intimidate my mother wafikirie tena mambo mengine huyo mama amezaa watoto wake simba watapigania simba mbaka mwisho,” he said. His message was clear that his family will not be shaken by false rumours or intimidation attempts.
Why is KRG speaking out now about the auction rumours?
Reports and social media conversations had escalated, prompting KRG to make his position clear. He emphasised that the claims were not only untrue but intentionally misleading. By addressing the matter directly, he aimed to put an end to speculation and protect his family from undue pressure.
The artist also addressed the wider habit of online users jumping to conclusions about his finances or personal life whenever he goes silent. This pattern of speculation, he said, is both disrespectful and rooted in ignorance. He pointed out that taking time offline does not signal financial struggle but instead reflects a focus on work and personal priorities.
What did KRG say about rumours that he went broke?
On November 27, 2025, KRG posted a video flaunting stacks of Ksh1,000 notes to counter claims that he disappeared from social media because he was broke. He stated, “Young people, I see that you don’t understand that when someone is quiet, it often means they are focused on their work and their life, and they don’t want unnecessary noise.”
He criticised the tendency to assume that silence equals difficulty, stressing that he remains financially stable and focused. According to him, speculation about his wealth is misguided. “You start imagining things that aren’t true. I have told you, whenever you mention my name, never associate it with poverty. Let me correct your ignorance completely. I am a blessed person who cannot be written off. This money I have is real, it’s not tissue paper. Only a few people notice it because I stay quiet,” he said.
KRG expressed frustration at the idea that taking a break makes people think he is struggling. He reminded his critics that his success stands on its own. “So, anytime you want to mention my name, don’t bring poverty into it. I am surprised that just because I stay quiet, you start talking nonsense, saying I’m broke. Stop linking poverty to my name and focus on your own life instead of other people’s business,” he said.
