Nine Kenyan digital stars have secured nominations for the 2025 TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa, set for December 6 in Johannesburg. The annual event will celebrate Africa’s most creative and influential storytellers who have transformed short-form videos into powerful movements.

This year’s theme, centered on creativity and community, recognizes the creators who have mastered the art of turning “60 seconds into a movement.” TikTok’s awards will spotlight exceptional talent in categories including food, education, entertainment, sports, and storytelling, highlighting how creators are shaping digital culture across the continent.

Which Kenyans Are Leading in the 2025 TikTok Awards?

Kenya’s digital space is well represented with standout names that have grown loyal followings both locally and internationally. The nominees include @englishwithclem, @roy.kanyi, @valerie_keter, @anitasoina, @boxtoboxregista, @zozasportscast, @tunero_animations, and @boyz_makekii. Notably, @englishwithclem earned multiple nominations across different categories, showcasing the rising influence of educational creators on the platform.

TikTok’s Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa, Boniswa Sidwaba, expressed pride in the growing creator community:

“Our annual awards are a moment for reflection and celebration where we build deeper relationships with the people who power the continent. At its core the TikTok awards celebrate the vibrant community who continue to inspire creativity, build community and spread joy on the platform while turning their passions into prosperous careers.”

Fans can participate by voting once per category each day through TikTok’s official voting page using the hashtag #TikTokAwardsSSA. Voting remains open until November 14, 2025.
