TikToker Vincent Kaluma, widely known as Kaluma Boy, has captured the hearts of many Kenyans after treating his mother to her very first spa experience, just days after securing a full scholarship at East Africa University.

A video shared on his TikTok page on Thursday, November 6, 2025, showed the content creator spending quality time with his mother during the special outing. The clip, which quickly went viral, featured his mum getting a manicure and pedicure for the first time, surrounded by laughter and visible joy.

“The first time for her to do manicure and pedicure,” Kaluma wrote, expressing his gratitude for how life had begun to change after years of hardship. He added that his mother was “very happy,” emphasizing that moments like these keep him motivated to work harder for his parents, who have stood by him through every struggle.

The video ends with his mum admiring her new red acrylic nails, smiling warmly, and waving at the camera, a moment that resonated with thousands of viewers who praised Kaluma for celebrating his family’s resilience and love.

How Did Kaluma Earn His Scholarship?

The viral spa date came shortly after Kaluma’s life took a major turn. East Africa University officially admitted him on a full scholarship to pursue a Diploma in Business Information Technology. The institution also granted him a monthly stipend and a place in its work-study program, allowing him to earn an income while studying.

Speaking during the admission ceremony on Monday, November 3, 2025, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Christopher Mutembei, praised Kaluma’s determination and positive influence. “I am Dr Christopher Mutembei, the Vice Chancellor of East Africa University. We are so happy today to welcome Kaluma Boy. We were notified about him by a bishop, and we are glad that he has finally been able to report,” he said.

What Does the University Plan for Kaluma’s Future?

Dr Mutembei revealed that Kaluma had initially expressed interest in digital marketing before career guidance helped him choose Business Information Technology. He explained that the decision to sponsor Kaluma was inspired by the university’s belief that education can transform lives and inspire communities.

“He has been admitted to undertake a Diploma in Business Information Technology. Initially, he wanted to study Digital Marketing, but after receiving career guidance, he decided to take this course instead,” Dr Mutembei stated.

The university also plans to involve Kaluma in outreach programs designed to inspire young people to value education and seize available opportunities.
