
Kenyan comedian and businessman Sammy Kioko has announced that he is selling his prized car, the one he won in the 2018 Ultimate Comic Challenge, to raise money for his sister’s medical treatment abroad. The emotional revelation came through a heartfelt video he shared on Facebook on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The comedian, known for his inspiring rise in Kenya’s comedy scene, explained that parting with the car was one of the hardest decisions he has ever made. The vehicle has been part of his journey since he won the national comedy competition eight years ago, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Why Is Sammy Kioko Selling His Car?
In his video, Kioko opened up about the deep sentimental value the car holds and how difficult it is to let it go. “So this morning, for those who know me, know that this car has been a blessing to me for eight years. Kwa wale wamefuatilia my journey for ten years, you know how I acquired this car, and this car has been a huge blessing to me,” he said.
Despite his attachment, Kioko admitted he is selling it at a friendly price, hoping that whoever buys it will also find it a blessing. “Sometimes, as a man, you have to do what you can, even if it hurts, so this car I want to dispose of, nataka kubariki pia mtu nayo with a good price,” he added.
He revealed that his decision stems from financial pressure as he tries to help his sister seek urgent treatment abroad. “This November, my goal was to take my sister, my friend, to travel and go and seek medical attention, but time is not on our side, for serious buyers only hit my DM mwenye ako na offer poa anaichukua kama baraka,” Kioko pleaded.
How Did Sammy Kioko Win the Car?
Sammy Kioko rose to national fame after winning the Ultimate Comic competition on Maisha Magic East in 2018. The reality show, which partnered with renowned comedian Daniel “Churchill” Ndambuki, aimed to discover and nurture new stand-up comedy talent in Kenya.
Kioko emerged as the top contestant after 22 weeks of intense performances, beating six other finalists. His win came with a package that included Ksh 1 million, a car, and a one-year TV contract.
At the time of his victory, an emotional Kioko said, “I am so honoured and absolutely happy to be crowned the Ultimate Comic. This is a great win for me, and I am grateful to Churchill and his team, as well as Maisha Magic East. It was such a great honour for me to interact and learn from some of the best comedians in Kenya. I hope to use my talent to move to greater heights in the industry and influence other comedians positively.”
