Pastor Robert Burale has suffered a setback after a Nairobi court declined his request to have a controversial interview by his ex-wife, Rozina Mwakideu, removed from online platforms. The video, titled ‘My Biggest Mistake Was Marrying Robert Burale,’ was published on a YouTube channel belonging to Rozina’s brother, Alex Mwakideu, on October 4, and has since amassed over 815,000 views.
Burale filed a lawsuit against both Alex and Rozina, alleging defamation and seeking Ksh.20 million in damages. While the court did not order the video to be taken down, Milimani Commercial Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyoki issued interim orders preventing Rozina and Alex from publishing or sharing the controversial interview further.
What the Court Ruling Means for Rozina and Alex
Magistrate Nzyoki clarified that the interim orders only block additional publication and do not affect content already posted online. He ruled, “An order for interim injunction is granted to stay the defendants (Alex and Rozina Mwakideu) from any further publication of the complained video on any social media platform pending the hearing and determination of the application.” The ruling ensures that no new copies or related content can be circulated while the case is ongoing.
Lawyer Ochiel Dudley, representing the Mwakideu siblings, assured the court that his clients would comply with the ruling. The case is scheduled to be mentioned on February 25, 2026, to confirm the filing of submissions and progress toward resolution.
The ruling represents a partial win for Burale, as it restricts further circulation of the contentious interview, but stops short of removing the video that has already gone viral. With the case now ongoing, attention remains on the court’s next steps and the potential impact on both Burale’s reputation and Rozina’s online presence.
