Kenyan filmmaker and actor Abel Mutua has shared a chilling account of being attacked by robbers on the outskirts of Nairobi. The incident, which took place on Tuesday, October 7, in the Kahawa West area, left the creative star shaken but grateful to be alive.

What Did the Robbers Take from Abel Mutua?

Mutua revealed the ordeal on Instagram, mixing his trademark humor with shock and relief. He said the attackers made away with his iPhone 16 Pro Max and Bose headphones, valuables worth hundreds of thousands of shillings. “Wueh! Sema kimeumana! Yesterday, the young men at Kahawa West welcomed me to the city. iPhone 16 Pro Max gone, Bose headphones gone as well,” he wrote.

Despite the heavy loss, Mutua expressed deep gratitude that the robbers spared his life. “The important thing is that despite the massive knives they were carrying, they spared my life,” he said. The filmmaker joked that had things gone differently, he would have “amkia kwa fridge,” referring to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home just across the road. “May they be blessed for sparing a life,” he added, humorously noting that he would be unreachable for a few days since his phone was gone.
