
How Did Abel Mutua’s Robbery Unfold?
Kenyan actor, comedian, and filmmaker Abel Mutua is thankful to be alive after surviving a frightening robbery in Kahawa West. The popular storyteller shared the ordeal with his followers, revealing that a group of knife-wielding thugs ambushed him and made away with his iPhone 16 Pro Max and Bose headphones.
“Wueh! Sema kimeumana! The young men at Kahawa West walinikaribisha jiji jana. iPhone 16 Pro Max gone, Bose Headphones gone as well. But cha muhimu ni despite the massive knives they were carrying, walinibakishia uhai,” he wrote.
Despite the shock, Mutua handled the situation with his usual sense of humor. He joked that the attack happened right across from the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) Morgue, a chillingly ironic location considering how close he came to harm.

“Ironically, they jumped me right across from the KUTRRH Morgue. Wangeamua ningeamkia kwa fridge leo,” he wrote, thanking the attackers for sparing his life. Mutua ended the post lightheartedly, telling fans he would be “unreachable for a few days” as he replaced his stolen devices, adding, “Haya! Mtaniruhusu nilale mteja siku kadhaa.”

The news sparked a flood of reactions online, with fans and fellow celebrities expressing both relief and amusement at Mutua’s resilience. Comedian Njugush commented, “Hawatambui ata Wazee??? Usiwalaani baa mdogo,” while filmmaker Phil Karanja added, “Ei siku hizi mtu anakaribishwa county zote si Nairobi tu.”
