Diana Marua has revealed that she is the main channel of communication between her husband, Bahati, and his baby mama, Yvette Obura. The disclosure has sparked debate online, with many Kenyans weighing in on their unusual yet functional co-parenting arrangement.
Bahati and Yvette, who dated before his marriage to Diana, share a daughter, Mueni. Speaking in a recent interview, Diana explained that respect is the foundation of her cordial relationship with Yvette. “Mama Mueni respects me so much, and she respects my marriage. I also respect her so much, and we have good communication. I think the foundation of all of this was built on respect,” she said.
Why does Yvette communicate through Diana?
What surprised many was Diana’s revelation that if Yvette needs anything concerning Mueni, she reaches out to her directly, not Bahati. “If the child wants to come, or she wants to come, she comes through me and not Baha,” Diana explained. She added that Yvette only contacts Bahati directly if Diana is unavailable or specifically gives her the go-ahead.
Diana emphasized that their focus is on raising Mueni in a peaceful environment. “Separating from someone is not easy, but life happens and we move on. We chose to forgive. For us, it is about respect, forgiveness, and seeing how we can nurture the person she brought into this world, Mueni, so that he grows and has a good life,” she said.
Bahati supported her sentiments, admitting that he and Yvette sometimes clash but Diana steps in to mediate. “They quarrel, then we call each other Mama Mueni and console each other. I tell her not to worry; I will deal with him,” Bahati added.
How did netizens react to Diana’s revelation?
The admission triggered mixed reactions online. Some praised the maturity in their arrangement. “When you marry a mature wife things go smoothly,” one user commented. Others, however, questioned the logic of going through Diana. “Heshima nitakupea lakini kupitia bibi yako juu ya mtoto nilipata na wewe is a big NO, nilizaa na wewe sio bibi yako,” another said.
Others tied the situation to wealth, with one user remarking, “Bila pesa hamezi peana respect, msidanganywe guys. Hi Achieni Matajiri.”
