Kenyan Prince Sparks Uproar After Claiming Kenyans Earning Below KSh 50k Have no future

Forex trader Raymond Omosa, popularly known as Kenyan Prince, has stirred heated reactions online after making controversial remarks about Kenyans earning less than KSh 50,000 a month. His statements, which many viewed as harsh and insensitive, triggered a wave of backlash across social media.

Omosa claimed that with such an income, people cannot afford basic financial stability, let alone secure a home in Nairobi. “Forget about living in a KSh 50,000 rental house because that is your entire salary. Your only future is death. If you fall sick and require KSh 1 million, you will have to hold a fundraiser, or you will die,” he said.

Why Did His Remarks Trigger Outrage?

Many Kenyans felt his words mocked the struggles of ordinary citizens. While some accused him of arrogance, others hit back with witty responses, pointing out that even billionaires cannot escape mortality. For them, his remarks reduced the complex realities of poverty into insults rather than constructive commentary.

Omosa insisted, however, that he has always been open to teaching people how he earns, but claimed that most dismiss his methods. He also addressed accusations that he makes money through homosexuality, responding bluntly, “Try and see if a fellow man will pay you KSh 200,000. If they do, I will give you another KSh 200,000.”

How Did Kenyans Respond Online?

The comments section quickly filled with criticism and satire. Some users challenged his view by arguing that success is relative, while others reminded him that poverty should never be a reason to demean others. A few noted that, despite his financial claims, every human being still shares the same inevitable fate of death.

Kenyan Prince’s remarks continue to fuel debate on income inequality, wealth flaunting, and how online influencers shape conversations around poverty and success in Kenya.
