Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang is urging the government to tap into the influence of content creators to promote state projects, policies, and flagship developments such as the Konza Technopolis in Malili, Machakos County.
As Chair of the Senate ICT Committee, Chesang highlighted that engaging digital creators will empower young people while boosting Kenya’s global digital visibility. “Let us use content creators to talk about government projects, policies, and Konza to Kenyans, especially the youth. By giving them these tasks, we will not only be empowering them but also spreading to the world what the government is doing,” he said on Thursday during a tour of the Technopolis.
Why Involve Content Creators in Government Projects?
Chesang emphasized that Kenya’s growing pool of digital talent can become a powerful tool in showcasing development efforts. By integrating content creators into communication strategies, state initiatives can reach wider audiences, particularly younger citizens who are more active online. He believes that this approach would not only create opportunities for digital creators but also amplify the visibility of projects like Konza, which he described as the backbone of Kenya’s digital economy.
What Role Will Konza Technopolis Play in Kenya’s Future?
The senator noted that once completed, Konza Technopolis will be central to job creation and innovation. “As Chair of the Senate ICT Committee, I reaffirm our commitment to supporting policies and legislation that will accelerate Konza’s growth into a world-class Smart City and a global hub for innovation under Vision 2030,” Chesang said.
He praised the project as a benchmark for public-private partnerships, highlighting its use of green energy, affordable housing, special economic zone incentives, streamlined investor services, and an innovation ecosystem driven by universities and research institutions.
How Will Konza Shape Africa’s Tech Landscape?
“Together, we are working to position Konza as Africa’s leading Smart City, creating opportunities in ICT, investment, tourism, and industrialization,” Chesang added. The senator was joined on the tour by Information, Communications and the Digital Economy CS William Kabogo, Tourism CS Rebecca Miano, and Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui.
Konza Technopolis continues to attract attention as one of the most ambitious projects under Vision 2030, with leaders now pushing for content creators to be part of the narrative that puts Kenya on the global technology map.
