Trump’s Alleged Birthday Letter to Epstein Released by House Panel

A controversial letter that Donald Trump allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003 has been made public by the US House Oversight Committee. The note, which Trump has long denied existed, was published Monday as part of the ongoing congressional investigation into Epstein’s sex crimes case.

The typewritten message appears inside the outline of a nude woman and was part of a compilation of letters that Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, assembled for his fiftieth birthday. The Wall Street Journal first reported the book’s existence in July, sparking a $10 billion defamation lawsuit from Trump, who is now 79.

What exactly was in Trump’s alleged letter to Epstein?

The short dialogue, signed with Trump’s name, reads:

“We have certain things in common,” says Donald.
“Yes, we do, come to think of it,” replies Jeffrey.
“Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?” asks Donald.
“As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you,” Jeffrey answers.
“A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

The letter concludes with Trump’s signature positioned in the nude sketch. Another entry in Epstein’s birthday book also references Trump. It includes a photo of Epstein holding a $22,500 check signed “DJ Trump,” though the handwriting significantly differs from Trump’s known signature.

Why did the House panel release the letter now?

Democrats on the committee released Trump’s alleged note before the full book was made public. Republican chairman James Comer accused them of “cherry-picking documents and politicizing information.” In response, the White House reiterated its stance that the letter is not authentic. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “It’s very clear President Donald Trump did not draw this picture and he did not sign it.” She confirmed that Trump’s legal team plans to continue litigation.

How does this tie into the broader Epstein investigation?

Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges, has remained a central figure in conspiracy theories about powerful elites. While Trump initially promised to uncover the truth about Epstein’s network, the Justice Department under his administration concluded in 2019 that Epstein died by suicide and did not maintain a “client list.”

Even so, pressure from both Democrats and some Republicans has kept the case alive. The Oversight Committee has demanded records from the Justice Department and testimony from high-profile figures, including former president Bill Clinton, whose own letter appears in Epstein’s birthday collection.

Meanwhile, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate now serving a 20-year prison sentence, told investigators that Trump was friendly with Epstein but “never inappropriate with anybody.”
