Presidential Aspirant Patrick Osoi Arrested After Launching Anti-Brutality FBI Movement

Presidential hopeful and former Kenya Defence Forces officer Patrick Osoi was arrested on the night of Tuesday, July 29, just days after launching the Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement. The dramatic arrest sparked confusion and concern among his supporters, especially after reports emerged that heavily armed detectives had stormed his residence and taken him away without clear explanation.

Why Was Patrick Osoi Arrested?

Osoi’s communication team later confirmed that he was in police custody and had been charged with preparation to commit a felony. In a public statement posted on social media, they said: “Free Patrick Osoi! H.E. Patrick Osoi was abducted last night by a contingent of heavily armed men…Osoi is being held at Muthaiga Police Station and is being charged with preparation to commit a felony.”

His assistant, Washali Edwin, confirmed the situation during an interview with TUKO news, stating: “He will be presented to Kahawa Law Courts today. In fact, they’re on their way to court.”

What is the FBI Movement All About?

Osoi’s arrest closely follows the formation of the Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement, which he described as a platform for uniting security officers and citizens against state oppression. Among the notable figures in the movement are Cop Shakur and Constable Hiram Kimathi, both known for defying internal police transfer orders.

Osoi made it clear that the FBI is not just a political campaign, it’s a resistance. “I would rather die with my head high, my faith unshaken, and a profound trust in the destiny of all Kenyans than live in modern-day slavery and capture by the political elitism,” he stated. He added, “No force can silence the truth. No walls can stand against the people who refuse to kneel. And as Kenyans, we refuse to kneel to oppression!”

Who Is Patrick Osoi?

Beyond his presidential ambitions, Osoi is a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer and a former U.S. soldier, making him a rare figure in Kenyan politics. His arrest has amplified online debates, especially among young Kenyans, many of whom are closely following the rise of outspoken leaders challenging political norms.

In response to recent remarks by activist Morara Kebaso, who accused Gen Z of fueling tribal politics, Osoi stood firm on his platform of unity and social justice.
