Kenyan actor Martin Githinji, widely known as Daddy Marto, is facing public scrutiny after his wife Koku Lwanga announced their breakup, bringing an end to their seven-year marriage. The two had been together for a decade, but recent revelations from Koku paint a deeply troubling picture of betrayal, emotional pain, and alleged domestic abuse.
Through a series of posts on Instagram, Koku accused Daddy Marto of cheating and physically assaulting her after she confronted him and the woman she claims he was involved with. She stated that despite her efforts to hold the marriage together, she often felt alone and unsupported.
“I know I was not perfect, but I tried,” Koku shared. “I used to be all in for you, even your family complained that I ‘owned’ you. And after everything, I was still alone.”
Koku revealed that Marto had previously tried to walk away from the marriage, but she chose to stay and work on their issues for the sake of their children. According to her, she paid their rent and even covered the nanny’s salary because she didn’t feel she had the option to leave.
She recalled one incident where Marto allegedly dropped her and the kids off quickly so he could go meet another woman. “Last year, when you wanted to leave the first time, I tried to fix things. But you told me I wanted the marriage too much. That I was smothering you.”
Koku further claimed that while Marto insisted he was broke, he continued to spend on dates with his other partner. Her posts expressed a deep sense of betrayal, saying she had given her all, only to be reduced to someone “disposable.”
“You can build with a man, give your everything, and still be treated like nothing,” she wrote. “You become someone he loathes. A burden.”
She also opened up about her mental health, revealing she has struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts. In one of her final statements, she questioned whether to pursue legal action or remain in shock, referencing a swollen neck and shoulders, allegedly a result of physical abuse.
