A major clash is unfolding between two of the world’s most powerful men, U.S. President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk. What started as political support has turned into an all-out war of words, government threats, and bold accusations.
Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, to slam Musk, accusing him of “going crazy” after Trump canceled an electric vehicle (EV) mandate that had previously helped boost Tesla’s profits. The mandate, intended to encourage EV use, generated billions for Musk’s company. But now, Trump says Musk knew it was going to end, and still reacted with outrage.
Fuming, Trump went a step further. He threatened to pull all federal support for Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX. That means cutting off government contracts and subsidies that have helped Musk grow his tech empire. Trump even claimed that canceling those deals would be the “easiest way to save money” in the national budget. He linked the move to a cost-cutting agency called the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, which Musk once supported before the two fell out.
Trump also took a jab at President Joe Biden, saying Biden should have cut Musk’s subsidies a long time ago.
Musk didn’t stay silent. In a heated comeback, he called Trump’s tax and spending plans the “Big Ugly Bill.” Musk said the bill had pushed the U.S. into more debt and labeled it “a disgusting abomination.” He urged Congress to keep incentives for clean energy, like electric cars and solar power, but cut down on what he called “crazy spending.”
But that wasn’t all. Musk fired back with a bold accusation. He hinted that Trump’s name may be in the sealed Jeffrey Epstein files, a major allegation that grabbed attention fast. He warned Republican lawmakers to be careful and added, “Trump has 3.5 years left as President, but I will be around for 40+ years.”
Musk ended with a sarcastic farewell to Trump: “Have a nice day,” and hinted that the truth would come out eventually.
