Chris Brown Freed on £5m Bail as UK Assault Case Looms Ahead of World Tour

Chris Brown is officially out on bail and cleared to hit the stage, at least for now. The American singer has posted a staggering £5 million bail after being charged with attacking a music producer at a London nightclub in 2023.

The incident, which allegedly took place at Tape in Mayfair, involved what prosecutors describe as an “unprovoked” tequila bottle assault.

Brown, 36, was arrested in Salford last week and held in custody after being denied bail on Friday. But on Wednesday, a London judge changed course, granting bail under strict conditions.

He wasn’t in court, but the message he later shared on Instagram was loud and clear:

“From the cage to the stage!”

The bail deal comes with strings attached. Brown was ordered to immediately pay £4 million, with the remaining £1 million due within a week. That’s in addition to other conditions, like staying at an approved address, avoiding contact with the alleged victim, and steering clear of Tape nightclub entirely. He must also surrender his passport whenever he’s not actively touring.

The good news for fans? Brown’s European tour is still a go. It kicks off in Amsterdam on June 8, with stops planned across major UK cities including Manchester, London, Cardiff, Birmingham, and Glasgow. He’s set to perform in Cardiff and London just days before his next court appearance on June 20.

The court made it clear: if Brown breaks any of the bail conditions, he risks losing the full £5 million security fee.

Also facing charges is Brown’s co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, a US-based performer who goes by the name HoodyBaby. He will appear in court alongside Brown next month.

While the legal process continues, Brown’s tour moves forward. His ability to perform hangs on strict compliance with his bail terms. One misstep could land him back in custody and off the stage.
