Footage shared widely on social media shows the Manchester United goalkeeper, currently on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, angrily shoving away a supporter who approached him after the final whistle. The 28-year-old appeared visibly enraged, the incident having occurred moments after a costly mistake that led to the decisive goal.
Dailon Livramento scored in the 54th minute when Onana chose to remain rooted to his line instead of narrowing the angle, a decision that drew sharp criticism from both fans and pundits. The defeat kept Cape Verde firmly at the top of Group D with five consecutive wins, while Cameroon stayed second on 15 points.
Why is Onana facing renewed criticism?
Onana’s blunder in Praia adds to a string of errors that have clouded his career over the past year. Once signed by Manchester United with high expectations, his form quickly deteriorated, and he has since lost both his starting role and the trust of new manager Ruben Amorim.
