What Does Aldrine Kibet’s Move to Celta Vigo Mean?
Kenya’s rising star Aldrine Kibet has officially signed with Spanish La Liga side RC Celta Vigo on a four-year contract running through 2029. The announcement, made on the club’s official platforms, confirmed Kibet will start his journey with Celta Fortuna, the club’s B team, while holding a youth player registration.

“Celta signs Aldrine Kibet, an 18-year-old attacking winger, who joins until 2029. The player arrives free and will have a Celta Youth player card, although he will initially join Celta Fortuna… Welcome, Aldrine!” read the official club statement.

Kibet’s pace, technique, and scoring instinct earned him recognition during the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where his standout performances for Kenya drew attention across Europe. His seamless control on the ball and attacking flair have made him one of Kenya’s most talked-about young talents.

Where Did Kibet’s Football Journey Begin?
Kibet’s rise began at St. Anthony’s Boys High School in Kitale, where he captained the team to a national title during the 2023 Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) games. His tournament stats were nothing short of exceptional, 25 goals and 27 assists, which earned him both the MVP and top scorer accolades.

After his KSSSA exploits, Kibet joined Spain’s Nastic Sports Academy through the Talanta Hela initiative introduced by then Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba. This initiative aimed to link talented young athletes to global opportunities, and Kibet has become its standout success story.

Joining Celta Vigo not only elevates Kibet’s career but also sets a precedent for youth football development in Kenya. His transition from a local school team to a European professional setup highlights the potential of structured programs and international partnerships. While he will begin with the B team, all signs point to Celta grooming him for the senior squad in due time.
