Manchester City Signs Record-Breaking Ksh178 Billion Kit Deal with Puma

How Big Is Manchester City’s New Deal with Puma?
Manchester City have locked in a massive new kit deal with Puma, reportedly worth £1 billion (approximately Ksh178 billion) over the next 10 years. This historic extension marks the largest kit manufacturing partnership in Premier League history. The club initially partnered with Puma in 2019 on a £65 million-per-year agreement. Now, the annual figure is set to rise to £100 million through to 2035, as reported by British media outlets.

This surpasses Manchester United’s £90 million-per-year contract with Adidas, signed in 2023. With the latest agreement, City joins the ranks of global football powerhouses like Real Madrid and Barcelona, both of whom have kit deals estimated at over £100 million annually.

What Are the Reactions from Manchester City and Puma?
City Football Group chief executive Ferran Soriano praised the partnership’s evolution:
“We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons. Puma has seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we have enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally.”

Puma’s chief executive, Arthur Hoeld, echoed the sentiment:
“Puma’s partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch. Trophies, a perfect stage for our performance products and commercial success, were exceptional.”

How Does This Impact City’s Future Strategy?
The deal provides a significant financial boost as the club continues its global brand expansion and pursuit of silverware. Interestingly, this announcement comes after Manchester City’s first trophyless season since 2016-17. Under Pep Guardiola, the team finished third in the Premier League and lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace. Their Club World Cup campaign ended in the last 16 following a defeat by Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
