Apostle James Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Centre has stirred yet another viral moment, this time by mocking recent claims that the world will end on August 2. Speaking during a high-energy sermon, Ng’ang’a tackled the trending prophecy head-on, delivering a mix of humour and hard-hitting rebukes that quickly caught the attention of Kenyans both online and in the pews.

What did Pastor Ng’ang’a say about the world ending?

Ng’ang’a wasted no time addressing the doomsday narrative. “Ati dunia inaisha tarehe mbili?” he questioned in disbelief, before firmly responding: “No one knows the day, even Jesus said that he also does not know when that day will be.” His comments dismissed the prophecy as baseless fear-mongering and called out the individuals spreading it.

Who else did the preacher call out?

He didn’t stop there. Ng’ang’a also criticized a woman from Busia who recently went viral after claiming to be “Maria Mama wa Yesu”, the mother of Jesus Christ. His blunt reaction: “Hizo ni maroho tu. That is nonsense. Even these prophets that you see around, don’t mind them, some of them are conmen.” His message urged believers to be cautious about self-proclaimed spiritual figures who exploit fear and confusion for personal gain.

How did Kenyans react online?

Social media lit up with mixed reactions. Some users found his delivery hilarious, while others warned against making fun of religious prophecies.

One user, Classy Tekuna, wrote, “Mungu akusamehe Ng’ang’a, that was a false post… Nisamehe Mungu kwa kuona hii video.”

Another, Joseph Wafula Wanjala, warned, “You people just don’t know the intensity of what may befall us after joking around with the prophets of the Lord.”

Others took a more relaxed tone, with Teejay saying, “Each person’s life/world ends when you die… heaven and hell are here with us.”

Meanwhile, Rubby Rubbie added, “Mimi vita za mapastors siwezi ingilia,” capturing the sentiment of many trying to stay neutral amid the religious back-and-forth.
