Atlético Madrid has identified Liverpool’s Andy Robertson as their number one target for the left-back position. Despite the complexity of the potential transfer, the Spanish club views Robertson as the perfect fit for their defensive setup.
The 30-year-old Scottish international has become one of the most consistent and reliable left-backs in Europe since joining Liverpool from Hull City in 2017. His attacking energy, precise crosses, and tireless work rate have been instrumental in Liverpool’s success under Jürgen Klopp. Robertson has helped the Reds win the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup during his time at Anfield.

Atlético rate Robertson even higher than other options on their shortlist, including AC Milan’s Theo Hernández. However, a deal won’t be easy. Liverpool still values Robertson highly, even as they prepare to bring in 20-year-old Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez, who is expected to add depth and competition in that role.
Robertson’s experience, leadership, and Champions League pedigree make him an attractive option for Diego Simeone’s squad, especially as the club looks to strengthen key positions ahead of the new La Liga season. With Atlético keen to bolster their backline, much will depend on how negotiations over the transfer fee unfold.
As it stands, Atlético Madrid is ready to push for Robertson, but the final decision lies with Liverpool, who may not be eager to part ways with a player still vital to their tactical setup.
