Borussia Dortmund has completed the signing of midfielder Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland for a fixed fee of €33 million, with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons. The deal also includes a 15 percent sell-on clause, making it a record-breaking transfer for Sunderland.
The 18-year-old becomes one of Dortmund’s most expensive signings in club history. If the add-ons are met, Bellingham could rise to second place on that list. This move marks another big step in the career of the younger Bellingham brother, following in the footsteps of his older sibling, Jude, who also made a name for himself at Dortmund before joining Real Madrid.

Jobe’s journey at Sunderland has been nothing short of impressive. Since joining from Birmingham City in 2023, he has quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad. His performances in midfield were crucial in Sunderland’s push to return to the English Premier League. He brought energy, creativity, and maturity beyond his age, helping guide the team through a successful campaign.
Sunderland initially received a €20 million offer, which they declined, holding firm for better terms. Their patience paid off. Not only does this deal set a new financial benchmark for the club, but it also reflects the value Jobe added during his time there.
Jobe Bellingham is now set to begin a new chapter in Germany. With his growth so far and Dortmund’s reputation for nurturing young stars, expectations will be high as he steps into one of Europe’s biggest stages.
